Egypt set up its DNA database in 2004. It has no specific DNA database legislation.

The 2008 Interpol survey reports that 30 crime scene DNA profiles and 320 individuals' profiles, plus 1,500 unknown/deceased DNA profiles were held in Egypt at the time of the survey. In 2011, Egypt's DNA database contained 1046 reference DNA profiles from individuals, 869 crime scene DNA profiles, 20 missing person DNA profiles plus 1815 unidentified human remains DNA profiles according to Interpol. No DNA database legislation had been adopted at that time.
