Industry-funded website DNA Resource reported in 2012 that "Saudi Arabia has now developed an impressive network of DNA laboratories and is planning implementation of an offender DNA database program". Accoding to Interpol, Saudi Arabia has a DNA database and a national DNA database legislation.

As of 2016, the Saudi Arabian government plans to allow DNA testing for those seeking Saudi citizenship.
