According to INTERPOL, Namibia is actively working to implement a National DNA database.<ref name="ftn1"> Personal communication with INTERPOL DNA Working Group. </ref> However, developments are at an early stage, with DNA identified as one part of a strategic plan to modernise policing. According to Interpol, Namibia has a DNA database containing 840 reference DNA profiles from individuals, 438 crime scene DNA profiles, 50 missing person DNA profiles plus 538 unidentified human remains DNA profiles.
